The 100 Years' War began between 1066, when William, Duke of Normandy, defeated the English King Henry II at the Battle of Hastings, and the last battle of the 100 Years' War, which was the Battle of Castillon, in 1453.

How did the 100 Years' War affect the people?

Peasants could go to war with long bows and other weapons just like knights and other army men. For a short period of time, during the 100 Years’ War, the armies were made up of paid mercenaries, but after a certain point (taxation was big) the kings of both England and France could make their own standing armies.
